Pontifical Missionary Childhood ( PMC )
We are little friends of Jesus … come let us follow him friend
Children are not only current members of the church, but entirely compose the future members of our church. PMC is a worldwide society and embraces all children up to 14 years of age. The group concentrates its effort on teaching about the Catholic faith to children and sensitising them on helping society members (especially children) in missionary faith and charity.
St. Patrick’s Church has a group of registered Pontifical Society of Missionary Childhood (PMC) animators, who instil missionary spirituality on the children. The PMC sessions are usually undertaken by the animators who mobilise children at the jumuiya level. The animators also promote children rights and provide assistance in situations where children are suffering due to various reasons.
PMC Activities
The PMC activities are guided by an Archdiocese calendar, and tailor made at the Deanery and Parish level to suit each church. Some of the activities undertaken with our PMC include;
PMC Commissioning mass – During this mass, PMC renew their vows in church to remain committed to the PMC society. This is usually followed up by a commissioning mass at the Archdiocese level.
PMC Registration – Registration of PMC is undertaken by the animators once a year in the month of January. During registration the children are handed over PMC items; PMC Card, PMC Rosaries, PMC Calendar of activities and PMC Flag.
Music and art presentations – These are sessions where PMC come together to perform poems, dance, public speaking, folk songs, etc. The sessions are competitive at the Parish level, Deanery level and Archdiocese level.
