History Be Merciful As The Father Is

St. Patrick’s Catholic Church had its early roots in Kalimoni Parish from where it split at the same time with the Catholic Churches at Kilimabogo and Munyu. This was around the year 1933. Its first site was near the Mugumo tree where the Administration Police camp currently sits. The first Church was located where St. David’s School is sited today. The construction of the Church at the current location began in 1958 and it was after Christian had conducted a harambee. The Church was completed in 1961. The current location, between the Prison and hospital was significant, as the Christians would be called upon to dedicate prayers to those incarcerated in prison as well as offer hope to those unwell in Hospital. The early Church developed an interest in youth empowerment and did this through encouraging youth activities that included games and martial arts as well as basketball among other activities.
